Impact Associate - Samaschool

Samasource, Inc. serves as the parent organization to two separate but related entities, Samasource and Samaschool. Samasource is a pioneer in the field of impact sourcing, the practice of hiring people from the bottom of the pyramid to complete digital work, and operates internationally. Samaschool is a US-based and online program that trains low-income individuals to connect to work by leveraging opportunities in the gig economy.


The Position:

Samasource, Inc. is looking for an Associate to join our Impact team to support our Samaschool program.

The Impact team is responsible for owning and executing on all of our monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes for both Samasource and Samaschool. We look to understand how the training and jobs we provide impact our beneficiaries' skills, income, and other quality of life indicators.

Working with the Samaschool team provides a unique and exciting opportunity to develop and implement M&E systems at the forefront of the changing American workforce, namely the shift to contingent labor and project-based work.


Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and update data collection tools, primarily online surveys, using third party platforms such as Typeform
  • Manage the data collection process and ensure accurate and timely use of data collection tools by field staff
  • Clean and analyze survey data to understand who we are serving, assess our performance, and measure our impact
  • Manage and update data dashboards
  • Manage communications with and data collection from program trainees through phone conversations or leveraging other tools and apps
  • Develop and test methods to improve survey response rates
  • Conduct research on relevant topics in workforce development, the future of work, the gig/ on-demand economy, etc.
  • Create visual and written collateral to communicate our impact to internal and external stakeholders


Your Profile:

  • Passionate about data, qualitative and quantitative, with a strong interest in economic development, workforce development, and/ or impact evaluation
  • BA/BS in Economics, International Development, Public Policy or other related field
  • At least 2 years of work experience, or equivalent
  • Strong Excel skills and experience
  • Experience in learning new data management tools and software
  • At home in fast-paced environment with a high level of ambiguity
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.


Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Non-profit and/ or monitoring and evaluation (M&E) experience
  • Experience in designing, piloting, running and/or analyzing surveys
  • Experience as a research assistant
  • Field research experience
  • Strong writing skills; experience in academic/technical writing
  • Experience with Salesforce
