Launched in 2013, Samaschool equips low-income people to access, secure and sustain work in the digital economy. In 2016, we launched an updated a curriculum that teaches skills and competencies needed to access work through the technology-enabled gig economy (e.g., child care work through Care.com; home repair jobs through TaskRabbit). Samaschool works in San Francisco and New York City, and is part of a larger organization, Samasource, a social enterprise that trains and employs people in digital work internationally. Samaschool is expanding its work in the San Francisco Bay Area to train low-income youth and adults to earn money through digital work platforms. Specifically, Samaschool works with a variety of community-based organizations throughout the Bay Area to prepare trainees to obtain and succeed in performing work through digital labor platforms. We are looking for a highly-motivated part-time instructor to lead trainings and ensure that students secure and sustain work. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching soft skills, workforce readiness, or entrepreneurship to diverse low-income communities and will have familiarity with digital labor platforms. Reporting to the Bay Area Program Coordinator, this individual will be responsible for helping Samaschool grow our nascent program in the San Francisco Bay Area. We anticipate approximately 5-8 hours of work per week with classes scheduled in the daytime and evening. Your schedule will include student contact time (in trainings) as well as time to prepare.
